This is going to be a thing again. I've got some new ideas for drawings that I would like to make public, so it would now be reasonable to expect a revival of MDR.

When can you expect this revival? And for how long? Wouldn't you like to know...

If I could ask out a web comic, it would be Achewood. If you've never met Achewood, get to know her/him by starting at the beginning of a story arc -- there's a scroll thing in the green area on the bottom.

Great Goodness, I have such a crush on this web comic. That's nothing new, but it's just a particular object of excitement right now.

I bought a lot of chocolate in my travels, there was a lot of time to kill on-board between ports, and for some reason my mother thought I should bring a lot of paperclips. And hence, PockyBot II was born. Varya has not met him yet, but only because I cannot seem to find her...

This occured while I was taking a stroll around my neighborhood, enjoying the warmth of Connecticut in the summertime. Honestly, at this point I'm less concerned about the drowning in the melted ice caps and more nostalgic about the days when it snowed in December.

I will continue to share the robots I garnered while abroad -- honestly, I plan to use them as filler while I start on new material -- but after that (or perhaps in the midst of it if I come up with another timely comic such as this one) this will be a comic on a new, less mission-y mission. That mission cannot be put into words because it is just that sacred.

All I'm asking you to do is believe in me. Follow me through the snow that will fall one night in late March. Wear your nice coat. Watch that it doesn't get caught on the branches, for they will be hardened with frost. Wear a hat so that your hair won't get caught either. You could hold my hand if you wanted. I will lead you through the brush to a wondrous place where robots and things that are not robots live together in peace, and the snakes have no venom, and our favorite bands will play. The children will dance, and so will we.

Hey you! Long time, no see...is anybody left reading this, by the way? Thank you if you're looking at my words right now.

In case you forgot or didn't know, I've been away on a journey for the past few months. You can read more about that here. One of the many things that I learned while abroad is that robots, while very awesome, are also a little "played out" (actually, I just read that from a Jeff Rowland comic, but I still accept it as fact).

But don't be sad! I will still keep this journal and put drawings on it. They just might not be robots all the time, or ever, that's all. Also, to console you, I have a few more robots from abroad, which I will share with you one at a time until they run out.

I saw this at the port terminal in Kobe, Japan. The eyes and arms are just a coincidence.

If you're from around where I am, then you should definitely come to the 3rd Annual Monroe Band Expo. Some friends of mine put this thing on; it's a festival featuring local bands, including mine

You only have one more of these coming until the winter.

My friend Adam and I pick as our favorite movies Better Off Dead and The Royal Tenenbaums, respectively.

I'm not going to get into why ConicidenceBot's words are the truth because I think we've all had this discussion at one point or another. Then again, I probably say that because I go to Emerson College, where all anyone talks about is movies other people haven't seen and bands other people haven't heard. That's why we're cool: it's that you don't understand what makes us cool.

Only two more robots before I leave on my three-month adventure, kids!

Sorry Jeff, but I just can't be the one to make this one.

So whether you want the attention of that cute girl at all the hip parties, or you're trying to figure out where you stand with an old flame (or, you know, whatever might be going on), you're just going to have to do your thing without a robot-angel over your shoulder.

The more I think about it, maybe we all have to do is be honest about what we want.
Or something.

Jen just graduated from NYU. I hadn't seen her in at least a couple of years. That was a fun party. Only a handful of people were there, which is often better than "like everybody" being there. Like everybody is a drag sometimes. The party was cozy and inviting, like a slice of fresh-baked blueberry pie on a winter's eve.

I think I'm going to make this site more bloggy, if that's okay with you. It won't always be funny anymore, but hopefully that will give me the creative freedom I crave. This might mean regular updates after all.

As this is my first day off of work since Sunday, I thought I'd take the opportunity to apologize for the lack of an update on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, I think I might have to switch this to more of a content-driven deal. You'll soon notice that I've changed the heading accordingly.

I should also inform you that on the week of August 21st, I will be leaving for a semester abroad and won't be back until December. I do hope to resume the strip afterward, but it's only fair that you know what's coming.

Still, remember that it's French Independence Day. So go on, eat some hot dogs on french toast buns, go trick-or-treating for bon-bons, and play Bastille Day Fool's pranks on your buddies.

You at least deserve to know a little bit about what's been keeping me from updating.

One reason is my band. We're working on an album which should be done some time in late spring/early summer.

Another reason is my tons of school work, some of which is poetry (what isn't up there is either too personal or too unpolished).

And other than that, I guess I've just generally been overextending myself, but now I'm on break, and I'll have some time to sit down with a pencil and graphing paper and let my imagination have a play date with said pencil and paper. So don't you worry, I'll be back again on Tuesday.

This is based on a doodle my friend Adam C did during his desk shift. In his version, there was a Hitler-looking anime guy instead of a robot. He wants to put it up on flyers all around Emerson College's campus, but somehow I don't think the message will be well-received.

If you hadn't heard of this already, Dean Trippe started this thing on LiveJournal where everybody draws a Batgirl and posts it. It's been going on for at least a month, and I kept telling myself, "I'm going to draw a Batgirl and she's going to be pretty and everyone on livejournal will see it and want to kiss the Batgirl but they can't because it will only be a drawing."

But only now does this come to fruition.

My batgirl here has a robotic arm.

All this robot wants to do is eat your face off of your head. Why not. Were you going to eat your face? You were going to let it go to waste, weren't you? Tut tut.

As you saw last week, things aren't going quite so easily with me this semester. If anyone would like to draw me a guestbot, I would be happy to post it. Likewise, if anyone has an idea for a robot, or a problem that s/he would like to be solved by robots, I will take suggestions and, should I use them, I will credit their authors.

Oh! Lest either of us forget: It is my birthday this Saturday! Please do something in reaction to this information.

I think I'm going to have to invent a robot who invents robots while Steve Subrizi is too busy, sad, lazy, and/or sick to do so himself. Today, I was too busy/sad/lazy/sick to invent such a robot, so in the meantime I entreat you to look at this and tell me this is not a problem in your life. If it is, this is not funny and you should seek help. Be the change.
